Our School Council
At Minerva May School, we believe that every one of you should have the chance to be involved in school life. By taking on different roles and responsibilities throughout the year, you can help make our school an even better place. Getting involved is not only fun, but it also helps you connect with each other and gives you important leadership skills that will help you in the future, both in our community and the wider world. As members of the School Council, you get to share your ideas and represent your classmates, making sure your voices are heard.
To be part of the School Council, you’ll need to show some important qualities. You should be able to communicate well and work together with your friends, build good relationships with the staff, and really want to make a positive difference. Teamwork, good time management, and being organised are also key. Being polite and mature is important, too. We want our council members to demonstrate and show our school values of Collaboration, Aspiration, Resilience, and Empowerment.
Every student at Minerva May School is part of our student voice. Your Form Representatives will lead discussions during Form Time, and together you’ll create a Year Council for each year group. These Year Councils will listen to your feedback and work on ways to improve our school. Our School Council includes our Senior Student Leadership Team and two representatives from each Year Council.
This group is the main way for students to share their thoughts and ideas, and we regularly check in with them about what matters most to you. We meet with the Headteacher every half term to talk about your ideas and progress, and then we share that information back with all of you during Form Time and assemblies.
